Our Adoption Journey

Waiting

Waiting is difficult.

Waiting on big things is never, to me, easy. I am patient as a teacher and patient while waiting in line, but waiting to know if these children will be matched with us is much, much harder.

We have applied to adopt several siblings, but we are limited on shareable details at this time until we have the official paperwork. With the quarantine, our documents have been coming in slower, as many places have experienced shut downs or a reduction in work hours. Examples of our slowed process include the difficultly of finding locations to complete our fingerprinting for our background checks (I think we are up to seven different ones now) and waiting until medical facilities are accepting nonessential appointments. While these things have slowed our process of officially matching with these children, we are grateful that we are almost done waiting on documents.

Our next step is to complete our expedited international home study. We completed our home study for our foster license last year, but since we are now adopting internationally, we need to complete our new study. This study, as well as all of our documentation and dossier, should be sent to the international adoption agency by the end of July to await an official match.

At this point in time, we have applied for specific children, and we are waiting on our final documents to hear if we are officially matched with the children we applied to adopt. As for now, we continue to pray, fundraise and trust that the Lord will provide and that He can be trusted. Meanwhile, my heart will think of, pray for and long for them daily.

Jesus saved my soul. Our journey as a family is an adventure.
