Passion Meets Work: Trades of Hope

Human Trafficking Awareness Day

As today marks National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, I just want to take a moment and share a little from my heart on this subject.

Unitas explains human trafficking as the “exploitation of another person for labor, domestic servitude, or commercial sexual activity by force, fraud, or coercion. It is also the act of enslaving or exploiting unwilling other people”.

40.3 million. That is the number of people that the International Labor Organization estimates is currently in human trafficking.

40.3 million people are being forced to live lives they desperately want to escape from each day.

It breaks my heart to know that there are women, children, and men across the globe today that are being forced to do unspeakable acts. I may only be one person, but I can use what I have to support these individuals in any way I can.

That’s why I joined Trades of Hope. Trades of Hope partners with women who have been rescued from human trafficking, and TOH provides them with livable wages based on the sale of their handmade products. Although I may not be physically in the brothels helping the victims escape, I can certainly do what I can to help provide a sustainable income for them to stay safely off the streets in impoverished and dangerous areas of the world.

Throughout the rest of this month, I will be sharing more information on human trafficking on my instagram and Facebook, as this month is dedicated to Human Trafficking Awareness. I invite you to join me on this journey by praying for those trapped in human trafficking. I also humbly ask that you consider purchasing the items these women have made, hosting a party and sharing about the mission of TOH with your friends, or becoming a partner and joining the TOH team to make a lasting impact in these women’s lives.

I look forward to our time learning together this month. In addition to sharing more information, I will also share resources that I have personally found very helpful to learn more about human trafficking. Thank you for joining me. 💜
